Son Jorda, Campanet, Mallorca
Less than a 1km from the centre of Campanet, this newly built, fully air-conditioned, stone clad villa is remarkable for the wonderful views of the Sierra de Tramuntana Mountains and the sublime way that natural materials and fabrics have been used to create an atmosphere of elegance and tranquillity.
The vastness of the mountains somehow energises the soul giving Son Jorda an ambience that money just can't buy. Set amongst 12,000 sq metres of olive, fig and almond groves, the house blends naturally into the rural landscape in a satisfyingly minimalist fashion, belying the stylishness of its interior decor.
From the sleepy square in Campanet a small lane winds downhill until two stone pillars herald the entrance to Son Jorda, where a driveway of some 200 metres, passes almond and olive trees before arriving at the villa's sheltered courtyard and main entrance.
From the courtyard, furnished with elegant dining table and chairs, tall wooden double doors open into an imposing hallway, with mellow terracotta tiled floors and wood beamed ceilings that are replicated throughout the house. Double doors on the left lead into a spacious living room, comfortably furnished with chairs and sofas arranged around a wood burning stove set beneath the chimneybreast. A sturdy dining table and chairs provide a formal dining area, whilst French windows open out to the front of the property. Another door leads to a second atmospheric sitting room in the restored original barn with exposed stonewalls and huge open fireplace in one corner.
The immaculate fitted kitchen includes full cooker with gas hob and electric fan oven, dishwasher and microwave oven. There's a table and chairs for informal meals, and French windows lead out to a garden patio area where breakfast can be served with birdsong and mountain views. The kitchen also has a walk in pantry, plus adjoining utility room with washing machine.
Built to accommodate a large party in comfort, there are a total of four bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a separate shower room. On the ground floor is a beautifully furnished double bedroom, a small dressing room and adjacent stylish full bathroom with double washbasins in a marble surround.
At first floor level and reached by a graceful tiled staircase are three attractive twin bedrooms, all with sloping beamed ceilings and sharing one full bathroom, plus a separate shower room. Two of the bedrooms have French windows to a terrace that runs along the front of the property and affords fabulous views of the mountains. The third bedroom has views over wooded hillsides plus access to a further peaceful terrace to the rear, overlooking the pool.
Outside the 10m x 5m pool, with requisite Palm tree, has roman steps into the shallow end and generous sun terraces. Finally, beyond the pool, the land slopes upwards to a small wild area of woodland, great for younger members of the family to explore!
However, whatever you're age, Son Jorda really Is quite a special place, somewhere to switch off, recharge batteries and just enjoy the magic of your surroundings!
The villa has a TV with satellite receiver and DVD player, as well as small portable CD player for music. There is a barbecue in the garden.

| This was our third time at Son Jorda, it's fabulous! The villa, pool and gardens are beautiful and the space and seclusion is priceless. The owners have really thought of everything and spared no expense in making this a real home from home. We love it! |

| Lovely villa, perfect for what we wanted. Pity we couldn't stay for a second week. Only gripe was the absence of cleaning materials in the kitchen on arrival. |
