Cala Dell Ovo is a wonderfully quirky Villa and a real treat in store for anyone seeking total immersion into Sicilian lifestyle, rich with antique furniture, and hand-painted ceramics from Caltagirone - a real treasure were sure you'll agree.
Above the gardens, the house itself is surrounded by large tiled terraces where, through the pine fronds, there beautiful sea views. Next to the house is a huge Veranda with an outside dining-room, an outside kitchen and a barbecue area built from stone and decorated with local ceramics.
Inside, the Villa is decorated in a most individual and artistic style, with beautiful hand painted doors and furniture and local ceramics on the floor. The open plan living room has a kitchenette to one side, compact but as they say a beautifully formed with gas hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine A double bedroom, a triple bedroom with a double and a single bed and a single bed room share a beautifully tiled shower room. There is a second shower in the garden, useful when returning from the beach. A path leads to a pretty cove just a stone's throw away with sand and rocks.
Villa Cala Dell Ovo is perfect for sea lovers in search of calm and privacy but if you would like to explore a little there is plenty on your doorstep. The pretty medieval village of Scopello is just 1km away with a baker and a choice of trattoria and pizzerias; the famous Tonnera de Scopello (location for a scene from Oceans 11 and home to Gavin Maxwell for a few years) is close by; the picturesque harbour and long sandy beach at Castellemare Del Golfo is just 10 kms away; 20kms brings you to the beautifully preserved Doric temple at Segestre; the dramatic medieval hilltop town of Erice and the glorious shallow sands of San Vito Lo Capo are a 50 kms drive; Palermo with its lovely Baroque architecture and botanical gardens are 70 kms trip; the ancient temples at Selanunte are 90kms away. and the list goes on!
