Villa Guidaloca, Scopello, Sicily
With uninterrupted sea views from the main terrace, this lovely three bedroom villa has recently been brought up to date with a contemporary style that compliments the light and spacious interior. Less than 2 kms from Scopello and 800 meters from the lovely beach at the small resort of Guidoloca, this Villa is situated on the edge of a small and select residential area.
The top floor of a two storey residence, Villa Guidaloca has a private entrance into a pretty garden with lawns and fruit trees and a pergola providing dappled shade over a barbecue dining terrace.
From the garden, a flight of steps leads to a generous balcony furnished for dining and with sea views. The open plan living room features a smart galley style kitchen, very well equipped with quality fittings - an electric oven and gas hob, fridge freezer, coffee maker etc. The living/dining area is exceptionally bright with French doors leading onto the sea view terrace plus a further set onto a second covered and furnished balcony overlooking the garden, encouraging a lovely through breeze on the hottest of days. Furnished in a modern uncluttered style, with contemporary sofas and light wood dining furniture, there is also a satellite TV and DVD player and useful for winter rental, an insert or wood burning stove.
The two double bedrooms and one bedroom with full size bunk beds are furnished in a bright and modern fashion and share the italian ceramic tiled shower rooms. There is an extra wash basin and WC in a seperate laundry room.
It is an easy 1.5 kms drive from the lovely little medieval village of Scopello with its sprinkling of pizzerias and typical trattoria and a bigger choice of eating places can be found on the picturesque harbour of Castellemare Del Golfo approx 8 kms away. The beautiful Tonnera de Scopello (location for a scene from Oceans 11 and home to Gavin Maxwell for a few years) is close by and for walkers and nature lovers the entrance to the Zingaro nature reserve is just beyond Scopello. If you have an appetite for history then you won't be spoilt for choice - 20kms brings you to the beautifully preserved Doric temple at Segestre; the dramatic medieval hilltop town of Erice; Palermo with its lovely Baroque architecture and botanical gardens are a 70 kms trip; the ancient temples at Selanunte are 90kms away. and the list goes on! Wine lovers can explore the wine routes, beach lovers have a choice of local pebbly bays, or the long sandy beaches at Castellemare Del Golfo or Son Vito de Capo 50kms away, also famed for its speciality dish - Seafood Cous Cous a dish much vaunted by Rick Stein on his visit to Sicily.
If you fit in everything you want to see and do we'll be surprised, so please don't slip into too much of a relaxed Mediterranean mode unless you're planning a second visit
Please note: 7 hours of air conditioning per day is included in the accommodation price, extra hours can be paid for locally, if required.
A damage deposit of 300€ is payable to our agent on arrival which will be returned in full on departure less any deductions, if applicable.
Location of Villa Guidaloca
Scopello, Sicily
An utterly delightful medieval village set on a ridge above a rocky coastline interspersed by small sand and pebble coves with water as clear as any in the med. Scopello is centred around its 'Baglio' the agricultural hub of the original village and now centre piece to an atmospheric courtyard partially shaded by a huge eucalyptus tree under which tables and chairs from the various restaurants and gelatoria are laid out. ...More about Scopello >>

"Villa Guidaloca was excellent, our host Natalie very helpful. Scopello was charming. We hiked a lot in Zingaro, found the best beach in San Vito lo Capo and spent a nice day in Selinunte. Your friendly and efficient service certainly will make us contact you again on the next occasion we return to the Med. "
"We had a lovely time, the villa was comfortable and well appointed, and we liked the balconies back and front enabling us to be in/out of the sun as we wanted. The views were gorgeous. Nathalie was very friendly and informative too. We found the information in the villa very helpful. One place we ate in Scopello, which may not have been mentioned, is the Fuego. This was not as 'up market' as some of the other restaurants but the atmosphere was nice and the food good. The little supermarket and veg shop on the way to Scopello were excellent - lovely cheese, local veg and salad and cheap wine! "
