Casa Professore 2, Cala Liberotto, Sardinia
Sunny clearings, almost empty of trees, gratuitously appear in the pine forests that run down to the beaches of Cala Liberotto and here 30 years ago, in one such open glade two teachers, husband and wife, built two simple adjoining villas, his and hers, for their family to enjoy.
Set in a quiet residential area, 10 minutes walk from restaurants and the relative hustle and bustle of Cala Liberotto, the Teachers Houses are just 150 metres from an idyllic sandy cove and offer the perfect location for a relaxed family holiday.
The gardens today still have a pleasant, woodland ambience and are shaded by pine and fig trees, with bougainvillaea and clumps of hibiscus adding a splash of colour. The two semi-detached villas are a mirror image of each other and are set in their own garden area separated by a simple fence. Each has its own double wooden entrance gate, with a pathway leading to a covered terrace area with patio furniture for dining alfresco, whilst to the side stone steps lead to an unpretentious roof terrace, which nevertheless enjoys lovely sea-views through the pine trees.
Each villa is simply furnished and contains a spacious open plan living area with feature fireplace, plus dining table and chairs and a sofa that doubles as an extra bed. In one corner and separated by a marble topped breakfast bar is a compact kitchenette, equipped with fridge freezer and a four ring cooker. In lieu of dishwasher, the neat cupboard set over the sink has labour saving drying racks and no bottom, so that dishes etc. can drip dry behind closed doors.
Off a small hallway to the rear of the living room are two bedrooms sharing a simple tiled shower room. The larger of the two bedrooms has twin beds matrimonial style, whilst the smaller bedroom has normal twin beds. Both bedrooms have plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space and there's a further curtained storage cubby hole in the adjoining hallway. Each villa has a barbecue in the garden, as well as an outside shower and a washing machine.
NB. The lane that leads to the beach is un-surfaced and only used for access to the neighbouring properties so passing traffic is negligible.

| A delightful house, which we really enjoyed. The proximity to the beach was a wonderful feature and we like Cala Liberotto. I don't know how busy it gets in the summer but when we were there it was quiet and unpressured. Very pretty among the pine tress, good beaches and access to a range of restaurants. An excellent holiday. |
