Panorama Apt, Cala Liberotto, Sardinia 
 
This delightful white-washed holiday home with its green shutters and red-tiled roof is perched high on a wooded hillside of Eucalyptus trees and enjoys lovely tranquil views over the Bay of Cala Liberotto, where the iridiscent sea fringed by green pine trees is quintessential Sardinia. Inside, the apartment is modern and airy with  beige tiled floors highlighted with smaller turquoise tiles matching the stained pine doors. 

The apartment owner, Bachesio, a passionate gardener, has been hard at work outside and the lovely gardens are now magically well established with green lawns and aromatic hedges of rosemary, as well as olive and apple trees and flowering shrubs. Bachesio also produces his own wine and will almost certainly offer you a glass or two or even a bottle, but do be careful of the red which we found somewhat overpowering at 4pm in the afternoon when we were taking photographs!

There are a total of three apartments terraced down the hillside. Bachesio keeps the top apartment for his family and normally stays there at weekends with his wife, occasionally also letting it to guests. There are two apartments on the ground floor, of which our apartment, number 2 is the most spacious and private..

There's a communal barbecue to the side of Bachesios apartment as well as a portable barbecue if you prefer to do your own thing. It's worth noting that Bachesio's family own a  butcher's shop in Orosei, from which he has now retired,  but if you're looking for some prime pork chops,  he's your man.  Bachesio's wife Rosaria, has also thoughtfully provided continental quilts for the beds, which you may occasionally find useful in early or late season. The two apartments also share a washing machine.

The nearest beach at Cala Liberotto is 500 metres away and it's only a short drive to the neighbouring beaches of Cala Ginepro. The nearest restaurant/pizzaria and mini-market are no more than 300 metres from the property.An attractive feature of this apartment is the spacious covered terrace at the front, framed by walls of local stone and a perfect spot for outside dining, or just to sit quietly and absorb the picturesque setting and glorious sea views. An entrance door leads into an open plan living area, with dining table and chairs, plus a sofa. To one side, an archway leads through to a neat fitted kitchen with full gas cooker and large fridge freezer, plus a further circular table.

Off an inner hallway to the rear of the living room are doors to one small twin bedroom, plus a more spacious master bedroom with twin beds matrimonial style. The bedrooms both have windows towards the sea and share a pretty tiled shower room.

15 minutes drive from Orosei and 5 minutes from Fuile Mare is the small laid-back resort of Cala Liberotto with a few modest hotels plus a number of restaurants and pizzerias as well as two rustic beach side cantinas serving ice creams, cold drinks and simple meals. Fragrant pinewoods fringe the beautiful, white sand beaches with villas nestling in their shade.
