Cana Joana, Santa Margalida, Mallorca (Majorca)
Some 4km from Santa Margalida and 8 km from the beautiful, dune-backed beaches of Son Serra de Marina, this unique property stands on high ground, amidst extensive almond groves on 60,000 square metres of land all registered as an organic farm.Leaving the main road and the world behind you, a stone track of some 400 metres passes through a couple of gateways bringing you to where attractive lawned gardens with flowering shrubs, palm trees and banana trees, border the 9m x 4m pool. To one side of the villa's pool is a covered terrace and from here a door leads into an open plan living room with a breakfast bar separating the well equipped kitchen complete with full cooker with ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave and large fridge-freezer.
Beyond the kitchen is an attractive dining area with a handsome dresser, lovely glass fronted 'inset' fireplace and a sitting area with sofa, chairs and a TV (22"LCD screen). A staircase leads to the light and spacious first floor sitting room. Glazed almost all the way round to make the most of the incredible sea views, here you will find two large sofas, a couple of easy chairs as well as a wood burning stove for cooler nights and a second TV (40" LCD screen) with DVD player. The panoramic views virtually encompass half the island, with stirring vistas of the rugged Tramuntana Mountains to the east and truly majestic sea views to the west over Can Picafort and Alcudia to distant Formentor on the far side of Pollenca Bay.
The villa's three well-furnished bedrooms are located on the ground floor, off the corridor to the side of the living area. One double and two twin bedrooms share a smart, full bathroom, plus a separate shower room.
On the far side of the villa and a tremendous asset for outside living is a further covered terrace, accommodating a second kitchen with a barbecue, full cooker, double sink, washing machine and a huge open fireplace. In the garden nearby, if you do a little hunting you'll find fresh mint and parsley for marinades.
Other gifts from Mother Nature include organic oranges and lemons from the grove adjoining the villa as well as the occasional offering from the owner of fresh eggs from his chickens, kept in a small run hidden away amongst prickly pear trees to the side of the entrance gate.
Visitors to Cana Joana will find the Villa well placed for exploring the island, a very comfortable base for visiting a market (Sineu, the oldest and largest on the island just 15 mins drive away), the beach in the afternoon, and enjoying a memorable meal in the evening - whether that's cooked on the Villa's barbecue or at Restaurant Es Turo 5 mins drive away, at one of the beach side villages or a cellar restaurant in lovely hilltop Petra.
The pool has a depth of 1m sloping to 1.85m .
The cost of logs and central heating, if required at the beginning or end of the season, is payable locally direct to the owner.
Location of Cana Joana
Santa Margalida & Son Serra de Marina, Mallorca
Although a mere 7kms from the resort hotels and glorious sandy beaches strung between Alcudia and Can Picafort, the small, gentille town of Santa Margalida, is just far enough removed from the coast to remain off the beaten track as far as tourists are concerned. ...More about Santa Margalida & Son Serra de Marina >>

"Thank you for the use of your lovely house we have had a lovely relaxing week and we could stay for ever. "
"Never have felt so relaxed on holiday before. The Villa is fantastic with everything thought of. We couldn't believe it. Thoroughly enjoyed the outside area where we use the barbecue. Kids had an amazing time and enjoy the pool. The folder info on the island is fantastic and so detailed. We used it loads. This was our first visit to Mallorca and will certainly be back again to stay at Cana Joana. Thank you so much "
"Thanks for our wonderful stay at Cana Joana. This was a trip of a lifetime for us from Canada. We suspect that we may be your first Canadian visitors and we sincerely hope that we are not the last. Some of the moments we will cherish when we look back on our trip to Mallorca are a trip to Platja Formentor - beautiful and unspoiled: lazy afternoons by the pool; a terrific family dinner at Es Turo (what a beautiful old building and lovely food); walking through the land looking at all the fruit and vegetables, as well as the chickens and sheep. We hope to be back again some day."
