Velanos Cottage 4 , Kefali, Crete

600 metres from the village, these four cottages have been built by Georgos the owner in an appealing traditional style with tiled roofs, natural stone walls, timbered ceilings and great big fire places! Nestling on the hillside, with magnificent views down the valley to the sea, they blend in perfectly with the village below, which is a tribute to Georgo's very considerable effort and creative vision.

From a small parking area above the cottages, Georgos has literally carved a 50 metre footpath to cottage 4, from where 20 natural stone steps lead down the hillside to cottage 3, before continuing down a further 30 stone steps and flower bordered pathways to cottage 1 and 2.

The superb 12 metre swimming pool with adjoining children's pool is located to one side of the property on the terraced hillside a short distance from cottage 3. Protected to the rear by a natural stone wall and with a large sun terrace in the same local stone, it enjoys wonderful views down the valley towards the sea.

Cottage 4 Sleeps 4/5
This, the newest and grandest of the cottages has the added benefit of one bathroom and one shower room and stands proudly on the hillside above the other cottages, at the end of the 50 metre footpath winding down from the car park. An entrance door to the side leads into an open plan living area with to the right, two sofas and a coffee table grouped cosily around a rustic fireplace. Beyond here is a large wooden dining table and to one side is a kitchenette with fridge-freezer and full electric oven. A pair of patio doors off the dining area lead out to a spacious terrace, with lovely views over the village and down the valley to the sea. To the rear of the sitting area, a wooden staircase leads up to first floor level where one double and one twin bedroom share a full bathroom.

 As in the other cottages, the bedrooms have pine floors and simple rustic wardrobes and each has patio doors to a small covered balcony, with further delightful sea views. Two of the sofas in the living area convert into single beds and to the side of the staircase at ground floor level there's also a convenient shower room.

From Cottage 4, twenty stone steps lead down the hillside to the swimming pool.
