Freelance's "Majorca Villas" Selection

Sa Torre, Campanet, Mallorca

A charming hacienda style villa with all three bedrooms boasting en-suite facilities and offering comfortable family accommodation concealed behind glossy green shutters, Sa Torre is set on one side of the valley that winds between Pollenca and the engaging small town of Campanet, a little over 5 mins drive away .

Simple farmhouses scatter the surrounding wooded hillsides, interspersed with the occasional grander property commanding the higher ground; olive groves give way to fields of sheep and along the valley floor, the old road meanders gently between the two towns, almost devoid of traffic, a relic of a bygone age of leisurely driving. At the heart of the property the cool and spacious covered terrace - a conservatory a la Mallorquin - provides the perfect venue to linger over a barbecue, whilst erstwhile serving as a thoroughfare from living room to kitchen. Nearby, the sparkling 7 metre swimming pool is finished with classic blue mosaic tiles.

Double doors open from the terrace into the farmhouse style kitchen, with traditional beamed ceiling and a huge wood burning stove in one corner. Wooden units with a marble work surface extend along one wall, incorporating a range style gas cooker, microwave oven and large fridge freezer. There is a dining area to the rear of the kitchen, beyond which a door leads to a small covered yard housing a washing machine and a traditional Mallorquin bread oven.

A second set of double doors lead directly from the terrace into the living room where a sofa and chairs, are grouped around an ornate wood burning stove, whilst a gleaming linen chest and treadle sewing machine give a touch of old world elegance.

To the right, a door opens directly to the ground floor twin bedroom, the windows revealing views of the swimming pool across the terrace. The en-suite shower room can also be accessed from the kitchen and proffers a short cut for that early morning cuppa.

On the other side of the sitting room, a short corridor leads to a further, slightly smaller bedroom, with double bed and en suite bathroom.

Standing alone at first floor level, the second twin bedroom, with en-suite shower room offers a touch more privacy and has patio doors to its own small balcony, from where incidentally we spotted an exotically plumaged Hoopoe, in the little orchard of fig trees adjoining the pool.

Campanet is just under 10 minutes drive away, whilst Old Pollensa is approx. a 15 minute drive and it is just a further 5 minutes to the beaches of Puerto Pollensa.

Sa Torre has a TV with satellite receiver (limited English channels).

The Metcalfs - Sep 2009
"Sa Torre is a lovely spacious villa in a quiet location in the countryside. It has a superb large terrace which is a delightful place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner enjoying the lovely views across the valley. The old town of Pollenca is an interesting place to visit especially on Sunday morning when it is buzzing with the local market. Port de Pollenca is a pleasant place for a stroll along the pedestrianised promenade with its many cafes and restaurants. We enjoyed the nearby walk in the Val de Boquer with its delightful views. This was our fourth booking with Freelance and as always we were very pleased with their service and hope to book again soon. "

Cassandra J. (Germany) - Apr 2008
"We had a wonderful stay at Sa Torre in April 2008 (also perfect weather!). The best thing about this villa is the location. It's away from the congestion of Palma, but you can still get just about anywhere on the island within a reasonable amount of time. The villa was also much nicer than we had anticipated. It is actually much bigger than the picture makes it look, and it is decorated with antiques. It is located in a very quiet, rural, scenic area but also not far from beaches and shopping. We were able to get to the beach in Pollenca very easily, and we found good restaurants there. There was also a binder in the villa with maps and tips and suggestions for vacationing in Mallorca which was very helpful. The location of the villa and the villa itself exceeded our expectations, and we would recommend this place to others. "

David Rowe - Jul 2008
"We are looking forward to our second holiday with Freelance in a couple of weeks time, after a great stay at Sa Torre last year (2008). "
