Achilles Apartments, Kalamaki, Crete

Set back above the coast road on a small private hill with lawned gardens to the rear, these two individual properties, with a total of three 3 bedroom apartments, one 2 bedroom apartment and three 1 bedroom apartments share their own 14 metre fan shaped swimming pool and enjoy an enviable position and superb seaviews. With the sandy beach of Kalamaki no more than 300 metres away and a number of nearby tavernas and small supermarkets, the situation couldn't be more convenient and car hire, although useful, is certainly not essential.

We have featured these properties in our programme almost since the conception of Freelance Holidays in 1984 and over the years they have become firm favourites of many of our customers. They are owned by Achilles and Manolis, two brothers from a wealthy and distinguished Chania family. Pavlos, Achilles son, who was not much more than a boy when we first met is now a medical practitioner and is following the family tradition of looking after our guests and keeping the apartment's facilities right up to date. Meanwhile, his father and uncle are enjoying a well earned retirement .

Achilles Apt 2, 2 bedrooms

Enjoying superb sea views, this apartment is furnished and decorated in subtle shades of green and white, with an attractive split-level, open plan living area. From the lounge/dining room with a comfortable sofa and stylish black marble dining table, five steps lead down to a spacious fitted kitchen with fridge-freezer, full electric cooker and washing machine. A door from here leads out to a large terrace facing west, complete with a barbecue and attractive cane patio furniture, where you can sit of an evening with a glass of your favourite tipple and enjoy the marvelous sunsets.

Off the living area is a twin bedroom with its own small private balcony facing west, whilst beyond the kitchen a short corridor leads to a full bathroom and then a double bedroom with patio doors to the barbecue terrace. There is a further terrace off the lounge with views over the pool to the sea.
