Villa Son Serra, Campanet , Mallorca (Majorca)

Situated just beyond the boundary of the  little town of Buger (the smallest town in Mallorca), the qualities of Villa Son Serra  become very apparent once you pass through the entrance gates into the pretty gardens. Newly refurbished, comfortable and well equipped accommodation, offers unsurpassed value for couples or families for their holidays in Mallorca and, should you choose, there's room for both! 

Furnished in comfortable and occasionally quirky Mallorcan style, this holiday villa has been brought right up to date with the addition of modern kitchen and bathroom fittings. But, the piece de resistance for those who enjoy cooking over charcoal, a whole room is devoted to a large barbecue and traditional wood oven, whose oversized French doors open out to the garden.

A covered walkway connects the barbecue room to the immaculate L shaped kitchen/dining room where, alongside a few well chosen period pieces and a farmhouse style table and chairs, all the modern day requirements of a gas hob, electric oven, large fridge freezer and full sized dishwasher are to be found. Nearby, a shady corner of the garden with table and chairs, provides an attractive dining spot.

The  villas living room is  comfortably furnished with  a squashy sofa and  leather club chairs arranged around a traditional wood burning stove and TV with DVD player. A prettily dressed table and chairs provides an alternative dining area and  french doors open to the front terrace.

An internal hallway seperated from the the living room by a half glazed door, dressed with mallorcan lace leads to a nicely tiled shower room and two bedrooms furnished with solid, polished wood wardrobes and chests. One bedroom has twin beds and the other, a double bedroom, has french doors to a sunny terrace. An additional aid to sleeping, and worthy of note here are the mosquito nets at windows throughout the villa.

At first floor level, a second small sitting room is furnished with sofa and easy chairs and has just stunning views over the tree tops towards the picturesque hill top town of Campanet and the Sierra Tramuntana Mountains beyond. A balcony from this sitting room overlooks the swimming pool and garden. Completing this suite, there is an, attractively tiled, full bathroom and an elegantly furnished matrimonial twin bedroom with french doors to a juliette balcony.

In the gardens, a Mallorquin archway swathed with vines divides the colourful flower beds from the lawn, dotted with small orange, almond and fig trees. A gateway opens to a further 12,000 hectares of orchards where you are welcome to wander. The raised 4m x 6m pool is gated, for the peace of mind for families with small children, and the mosaic tiles, of an attractive sea green compliment perfectly the surrounding countryside.

Buger itself offers an excellent baker, general store, a couple of small cafe/bars and a bank. There's a beautiful Church at the highest point and it is noted for its windmills. The beaches at Puerto Pollenca, Alcudia and Cala San Vicent are 20 mins away by car, and excellent walking can be enjoyed both in the immediate area and the foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains which are almost on the doorstep. There is easy access to Palma, by car or by train from the larger towns of Sa Pobla or Inca, neither more than a 10 mins car journey.
