As Featured in Sunday Times "50 bargain villas in Europe"
In traditional Cretan fashion, this semi-detached cottage is built directly onto a rocky buttress that forms the far end of the village square giving it an almost hobbit like ambience! On the first floor and sharing a shower room, are one twin and one double bedroom with sloping beamed ceilings and large French windows looking out over the quiet square towards the sea. Downstairs on one side of a small entrance hall, is a neat, well-equipped kitchen with attractive pine cupboards and dining table. Also off the entrance hall is a second shower room, plus the atmospheric living room built around the natural rock face and complete with a lovely open fireplace, fitted sofas and a pine ceiling.
Outside the spacious terrace, neatly paved in local stone, is partly covered and in summer becomes a cool extension of the living area. A screen of pink and white oleanders provide a high degree of privacy from the neighbouring cottage as well as welcoming shade in the afternoon. A great spot to sit with a cold drink and watch for falling stars at night.
In a sheltered spot to the far side of the house is a small kitchen garden and also a purpose built barbecue.
Accommodation in a nutshell
All our five village houses command superb sea views and all have a minimum of two bedrooms, plus one shower room and of course, hot and cold running water. Each house has a well-equipped kitchen with an electric cooker and fridge-freezer and there's an open fireplace in the living area. An innovative feature in many of the houses is full-length French windows in the first floor bedrooms, protected by wrought iron balustrades. Each house is supplied with two sunbeds and they all have fans in the bedrooms as well as mosquito nets over the beds. |
