Villa Ionaida, nestles on the side of a green and virginal valley, just below the village of Douliana and off the track that offers a bumpy shortcut to the beach! From the dining room terrace the view across the valley is utter tranquillity, whilst the land sloping away below is a veritable Orchard of Eden, where Fig, Olive and Carob Trees happily coexist and in springtime the fragrant blossoms of nearby fruit trees intermingle with the spicy scent of wild sage and thyme in an olfactory melange that is quintessential Crete.

This exceptional villa was built some seven years ago to a very high specification by an expat. upholsterer from England. It has marble tiled floors throughout and every imaginable modern convenience, including the bonus of good Anglo Saxon plumbing, so no bin in the bathroom to bother with!

A short, steep driveway leads down to a shady parking spot under the trees, from where a gateway and a few steps along a pathway will bring you to the main entrance door which opens into an attractive L shaped living room. To one side, is a sitting area with a fireplace and 2 comfortable sofas, and beyond, through a graceful archway, is the elegant dining area. Off the living area, two sets of patio doors open out onto a spacious and sunny terrace with patio furniture and views across the verdant valley and down to the sea, which is just visible over the tree tops.

The kitchen is accessed by a door beyond the dining area and is superbly equipped with all mod cons. These include a specially imported, aga style electric cooker, a dishwasher and washing machine, plus a state of the art fridge freezer, complete with iced water and ice cube dispenser, essential of course for gin and tonics! There�s also a double sink with waste disposal unit, plus plenty of fitted cupboards and ample work surfaces.

Just inside the main entrance to the living room is a door to a smart guest WC, whilst a marble tiled staircase to the side leads down to the sleeping accommodation. Here there is one small twin bedroom, plus a double bedded master bedroom, separated by a beautifully appointed, marble tiled bathroom with the luxury of a corner style bath. Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and bedside table and lamps, plus patio doors to a lovely terrace looking out over the valley. At the far end of this terrace, a few steps lead up to the generous 9m x 5m swimming pool with Roman steps into the shallow end. The pool is surrounded by sun terraces and of course supplied with sun beds and umbrellas.

The villa has a TV with DVD player, plus a small CD player for music.

The beds in the twin bedroom have spare pull out beds below, which are suitable for additional children, although bear in mind that space is limited.
