Villa Joanna, Maleme, Crete

The hamlet of Metochi was once just a simple farming community embracing 6 or 7 houses tucked away in the countryside 1km from Maleme and 1.5km from the sea. In recent times many of the old houses have been renovated but the hamlet retains its tranquil aura and sense of community making it a perfect base for a quiet holiday, yet still within easy striking distance of Chania and a choice of lovely beaches strung along the coast.

Lefteri's home, originally a rambling old farmhouse dating back to the 19th century has now been carefully restored and transformed into 2 adjoining but entirely private houses, both retaining many of the original features and stonework which together with all mod cons and some lovely furnishings, provide the ultimate in comfort and 21st century chic.

High stone walls embrace Lefteri's House 2 and completely enclose its 'secret' lawned garden, furnished with barbecue area, extravagant 9m x 5m pool and children's pool with jacuzzi. Entrance to the open plan living area, is by way of either of the 2 'signature' arched covered terraces, offering welcome poolside retreats from the midday sun. Characterized and partially divided by the original stone arches, the living room, at one end of an L shape, has generous sofas grouped around a fireplace and satellite TV with DVD player. With a door leading directly to the poolside terrace, at the opposite end of the 'L', the very well equipped kitchen/dining area has a large fridge freezer, eyelevel oven, dishwasher, microwave and ceramic hobs and of course a large wooden dining table.

All three bedrooms, each with their own terrace, are spacious and stylishly furnished. At first floor level, the four poster double bedded master bedroom with en-suite bathroom (with turbo massage bath) has French doors to a terrace which has a staircase to the pool and garden. The twin bedroom has French windows to a private balcony that overlooks the pool. At the top of the house the spacious penthouse double bedroom with four poster bed in the eaves of the house has its own balcony and crows nest views beyond the village rooftops to the sea from its own large balcony. This bedroom and the twin bedroom share a shower room, fitted with turbo massage attachments, on the first floor.

All three bedrooms have their own satellite TV.

For convenience, there is a poolside shower room with WC and washing machine.
